What are the Schedules?
Schedules are the tables that contain additional details, not mentioned in the articles of the Indian constitution.
Evolution of Schedules
The Government of India Act, 1935, had first mentioned the schedules and there were 10 schedules in that act.
When the Constitution of India was adopted in 1949, it consisted of 8 schedules. Presently, there are 12 schedules in our Indian Constitution.

- Ninth Schedule : Land reforms and abolition of the zamindari system : Added through the First constitutional amendment act, 1951.
- Tenth Schedule : ‘Anti-Defection Law’ : Added through the Fifty Second Constitutional Amendment Act, 1985.
- Eleventh Schedule : ‘Panchayats’ : Added through the Seventy-Third Constitutional Amendment Act, 1992.
- Twelfth Schedule : ‘Municipalities’ : Added through the Seventy-Fourth Constitutional Amendment Act, 1992.

- Schedules are utilized in variety of laws for diverse purposes
